Title: Ethical Issues and Problems in Public Relations Management

Abstract: Public relations as a profession has a number of ethical codes that guide the practice of the profession globally. As applicable to many other professions like law, medicine and engineering, public relations has many evolving ethical issues and challenges. These ethical issues among others are: international culture: East vs West, the role of PR professionals in tackling misinformation and protecting the truth, the who –to-work- for dilemma, building trust and accountability and avoiding purpose washing. Three objectives were formulated to guide the study. A survey research design was adopted for the study. The findings from the data analysis showed that issues associated with ethical practices are dimensional. This indication revealed that fear of tackling issues, lack of principles of manners and unethical principles in professional practices have the profession hugely. The study also discovered that problems associated with public relations revolves around lack of understanding, high expectation, poor appreciation and many communications platform are problems associated public relation management. Based on this, the study recommended that:that developing countries or organization should be geared towards a more effective utilization of public relations measures and since it has been established that public relations practice is facing problems in developing countries, deliberate and sustained efforts should be made to check such problems.
