Title: Globalisation of Culture and Identity Crisis Among Undergraduate Students of Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki

Abstract: This study investigated how Information and Communication Technologies and globalisation of culture have contributed to identity crisis among undergraduate students of Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki, Nigeria. Survey research method was adopted. From the total students' population of the university, a sample size of 350 was determined using the Taro Yamane formula. The study was anchored on two theories: Cultural Imperialism and Technology Determinism. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and were analyzed with Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 20.0. Findings show that the students of the selected samples are largely influenced by foreign media exposure which leads to globalisation of culture with the ripple effect of identity crises. The study recommended that greater efforts to instil media literacy among media audience in the country, particularly, among young people because of their peculiar tendencies.
