Abstract: | This study was carried out to examine readers perception of the visual aesthetics of selected national dailies in Nigeria. The general objective of the study was to find out how audience members of the society patronize a print media organization because of the application of visual aesthetics. The study was carried out in Abakaliki metropolis, Ebonyi state. Vanguard, Sun and Thisday newspapers were the selected dailies under review. The study was anchored on uses and Gratification theory. Survey research method was employed in obtaining data for the study. Purposive sampling technique was employed to administer questionnaire and gather data on a sample size of 360. Consequently, the findings revealed among others that the proper use of visual aesthetics attract audience to patronize a particular print media product and if it is properly harnessed could be used to promote print media products. However, to achieve this, print media houses need to create a department that is saddled with the responsibilities of visual aesthetics. |
