| Abstract: | The study entitled “Vanguard Newspaper Reportage of the Fight against Terrorism in Nigeria from October, 2019 – January, 2021” determined if vanguard newspaper adequately covered reports of the fight against terrorism in Nigeria from October 2019 – January 2021, to determine if Vanguard Newspaper gives timely reportage of the fight against terrorism in Nigeria within the study period, to determine the extent to which Vanguard Newspaper attached prominence to reports of the fight against terrorism in Nigeria within the said period of time, to determine the frequency of Vanguard Newspaper's report of the fight against terrorism at the same time. The study adopted content analysis as a research method. The population of the study comprised 288 publications of Vanguard Newspaper which were selected using purposive sampling technique. Data collected and collated were analyzed using simple percentage distribution tables. Findings of the study revealed that Vanguard Newspaper did not adequately cover reports of the fight against terrorism in Nigeria from October 2019 – January, 2021.Also, that Vanguard Newspaper did not significantly give timely reportage of the fight against terrorism in Nigeria. Again, Vanguard Newspaper did not significantly attach prominence to report of the fight against terrorism in Nigeria and that Vanguard Newspaper frequently reports the fight against terrorism in Nigeria. Based on these findings, it was recommended among others; that Vanguard Newspaper should adequately cover issues of terrorism in Nigeria. Vanguard Newspaper should give timely reportage of the fight against terrorism in Nigeria and attach prominence to issues of terrorism in Nigeria as it will go a long way to motivate the audience to put more efforts in assisting government in the fight against terrorism in Nigeria. |
