| Abstract: | The study ascertained the effectiveness of Women Annual August meeting as a public relations tool for negotiating gender mainstreaming in Ebonyi State. Survey research method was adopted for the study. Consequently, copies of the questionnaire were administered on 382 respondents randomly sampled among the male residents of Abakaliki metropolis. The study was anchored on Frank Jefking's Transfer Process model. The statistical tool of arithmetic mean was used in testing the research hypotheses. The findings showed that the respondents have significant awareness and knowledge about Women Annual August meeting, that they accept that the decisions/resolutions made during such meetings have developmental impact on the society, consequently, the majority of them accepted that women now compete with their male counterparts in working for the holistic development of the society, and such, should be given equal opportunity in duty performance in Ebonyi State, Nigeria. As a result of the findings, it is recommended that the women should adopt multi-media approach in publicising the activities of the meeting, that male folk presence during such annual meetings should be given greater emphasis, hence, it is recommended that there should be no fund raising during the meeting and that church premises should not serve as venue of the meeting. |
